As the road to OFSAA begins Laurel Creek athletes have made a big splash early season in the sometimes soggy conditions.
At the “Track Wars” Meet at Jacob Hespeler High School in Cambridge we had 13 top three finishes at a meet that featured 51 schools and nearly 2000 competitors.
The top performance of the day was Stephen Davis who won the junior boys high jump, triple jump and long jump making him the top overall athlete of the meet.
Other first place finishes went to Annika Jozin in junior girls high jump who also broke the meet record. In addition was Travis Bannerman who won senior boys high jump, Scott Arndt_ in senior boys 1500m, Alex Hankins in junior girls 1500m, Brendan Chapple in junior boys 1500m and Avery Hastings in Midget Girl’s Shot Put.
Here’s an article on Stephen’s performance:

South of the border, Foster Malleck won the High School Mile at the prestigious Penn Relays Meet in Pennsylvania. The last Canadian to do this was LC’s own Jamie Phelan who then went on to win the NCAA Division One 1500m title a couple of years ago.
Congratulations everyone on a great start to the season!
