The club began in the late 1970s with a small group of distance runners training out of the Laurel Creek Conservation Are in north Waterloo. Since that time, the club has evolved into a multi-faceted club with over 100 athletes and 8 coaches with numerous top ten Ontario club rankings. Laurel Creek Track Club consistently places as the highest ranking local club. As there are about 100 Ontario clubs, LC is very proud of its accomplishments. The high rankings are a testament to our committed athletes and to our event-specific coaches. Over the years LC has seen dozens of athletes make national teams.
Over the years, Laurel Creek has had athlete representation at most major international competitions, including the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing when Leah Robinson represented Canada. LC has also had five coaches named to national teams in the past. No other local club has had more than one.
