Laurel Creek is looking for a coach for our youth development program. The “D Group” serves young athletes from age 10 to 14 and helps to introduce them to the sport of track and field
Interested? Here are some details about your coaching duties
Fall session is 10 weeks. October 2 – mid December. M/W for 1.5 hours. 5 – 6:30 p.m. or 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Resurrection CSS. Waterloo Rec. Complex for remainder of fall session would be 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. or 6:30 – 8 p.m. on M/W.
Spring session is 10 weeks: May 1 – mid-July. M/W from 5:30 – 7 p.m. or 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Session could start in -April and finish at the end of June. There is flexibility here with when session ends/finishes and training times. Athletes could attend the four Great Lakes Meets which are in Cambridge, Woodstock, London and St. Thomas. The meets are on four consecutive Wednesdays so they would replace the workout. These meets begin in July.
There are generally 15-20 athletes in each session. Focus is on the fundamentals of sprinting and jumping. Throwing would be possible as well. If needed there is help available with program structuring from our other coaches.
Coaches expenses are covered. Mileage to and from workouts, meal allowance for competitions, coaching education, equipment needs, etc.
We’re looking for individuals who have some experience in track and field are well organized and enthusiastic. More important is a passion to develop youth and help them be all they can be.
