As we prepare for training again we take a moment to look back. While many were disappointed at the cancellation of OFSAA none were more so than those who were poised to medal after outstanding indoor seasons.
The first athlete we’d like to recognize is Travis Bannerman who ended the season ranked #1 in Canada in U20 men’s high jump. Travis had victories at the Athletics Ontario Indoor provincials and in the US so was well positioned to carry on. Good luck in the days ahead Travis!
In addition, we’d like to recognize several outstanding performances from our middle distance group.
Tennessee Tremain ended up ranked 4th in Canada in U18 1500m while Abbey Yuhasz and Scott Arndt were part of Team Canada for the Pan Am Cross Country Cup meet in February. We look forward to seeing what these amazing athletes will do in the days to come.
And finally, we’d like to recognize as we look back at the year so far before we move forward is Stephen Davis who finished indoor season ranked 2nd in Canada in U18 pentathlon and 3rd in 60m hurdles and Annika Jozin who was ranked 2nd in U18 high jump. Both had numerous strong performances throughout the year and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.
We look forward to these athletes and the other 100+ from Laurel Creek TFC returning to training in early July. We are the largest club in the area and have been turning out quality track and field athletes for over two decades.
