Laurel Creek TFC is saddened to share the passing of Coach John Gamble yesterday.
John was born in Owen Sound, earned a Bachelor of Physical & Health Education degree from Lakehead University, and a Bachelor of Education degree and Master of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and went on to serve as a teacher for many years.
John was an extraordinary athlete, twice a Canadian champion as well as holding two Canadian records. John loved not only to play sports but had a passion for coaching. Although he spent his career primarily teaching physical education to high school students, he spent countless hours with young athletes. His passion was to coach multi-event track and field events.
John is survived by his beloved wife Yolanda of Kitchener-Waterloo after 50 years of marriage. Father of John-Michael and his wife Emily of Waterloo. Grandfather of Scott, Sophia, Xavier, Sean, and Seth, all of Waterloo. Brother of William and his wife Marilyn of Owen Sound. He is preceded by his parents Vivian and Andrew.
John touched many lives at LC and within the track community and will be greatly wished. We extend our deepest condolences to all his family and all this special man touched.
